Three Illinois Women During the Civil War is a one woman show telling the story of three different heroic women from Illinois. This show features portrayals of Mother Bickerdyke, a woman from Galesburg she established 300 field hospitals and assisted wounded soldiers on 19 battlefields, Albert Cashier, who was born a woman but passed as a man for most of her life after serving as a soldier during the Civil War, and Julia Dent Grant, the wife of the commanding officer of the Union Army. The show was written and is performed by Betty Carlson Kay. A retired teacher and author, she is enjoying bringing history to life through presentations of historical figures.  For the Illinois Bicentennial, she is traveling across the state with the Illinois Humanities Speakers Bureau doing her presentation of THREE ILLINOIS WOMEN DURING THE CIVIL WAR.
