[ARCHIVED] City Uses New Smartphone App

Through a multi-departmental cooperation, the City of Pontiac is offering residents and visitors alike a chance to see the city through a new point of view: through a smartphone. Under the parent rTown app, Pontiac, IL has its own page. Anyone is able to download the free app to their smartphone and then select Pontiac from the list of cities that appears.

Once this is done, they are able to browse business listings, attractions, upcoming events, and more. Business listings are broken down by category like shop, eat, or beauty (among others). Information about all of the city departments and parks and attractions are listed as well.  Users can also opt in to receive notifications about upcoming events in the city. Users can have everything they ever wanted to know about the city of Pontiac available right at their fingertips, or more precisely, right on their cellphone.

Fliers and business cards with information about downloading and using the app will be distributed to local businesses to hand out to their customers. Questions should be directed to the Tourism Department at 815-844-5847.
