The Pontiac Public Library will be hosting a free Total Solar Eclipse Lunch & Viewing on Monday, August 21st from 11:30 AM till 3:00 PM. Join us over your lunch hour to enjoy lunch and the viewing of this awesome natural phenomenon. The library is located at 211 East Madison Street. Interested parties can register for the event at the library Circulation Desk or call (815) 844-7229 to speak with a librarian.
For the first time in 38 years, a total solar eclipse will occur over the continental United States. Here in Illinois we are fortunate to have over 90% visibility. The library will be airing the live stream video from NASA's solar eclipse observation post in Carbondale, Illinois, and solar eclipse glasses will be available to safely view the eclipse outside the library. A lunch of hot dogs, chips, drink, and cookies will be available. .
