[ARCHIVED] Red Carpet Corridor Festival - May 6 & 7

Illinois map.jpg

The 11th annual celebration of Route 66 will take place along the 90-mile stretch of the Mother Road designated as the Red Carpet Corridor on Saturday,  May 6 and Sunday, May 7.  From Joliet in the north to Towanda in the south, each community will offer its unique collection of activities.  Flea Markets, craft displays, geocaching, cooking contests, live entertainment, great food, and plenty of Route 66 history are just a few of the highlights of the festival.

Take the long weekend to experience and explore the Red Carpet Corridor.  And don't forget to pick up one of this year's collectibles at each town along the route - this year it is a button from each community in the Corridor.

Be sure to be in Pontiac for one or both of our free musical performances.  On Saturday evening (7:30 PM), the Vermillion Players will premiere the latest musical revue.  This is a free performance at the historic Chautauqua Park pavilion.  Then, at 1:00 PM on Sunday there will be a free concert by the Route 66 Concert Band at the Eagle Performing Arts and Conference Center located at 319 North Plum Street.
