The Vermillion Valley Show Chorus will appear at The Eagle Performing Arts and Conference Center in Pontiac on Sunday June 26, 2016 for a 2pm Patriotic Show, “27 VOICE SALUTE.” Refreshments of cake and drinks will be served at 1:30p.m. to be enjoyed while waiting for the 2p.m. show.
The Chorus was in Appleton Wisconsin recently for a Regional Sweet Adeline Competition where a second place medal was earned. The chorus is based in Pontiac, but members travel to rehearsals at Futures Unlimited from all over central Illinois and beyond for Thursday night rehearsals. Women who enjoy singing are always welcome to attend for an evening of music and education.
The Eagle show will feature the guest quartet, FLIP SIDE, consisting of Debbie Lowman, Tenor; Kathy Filipiak, Lead; Ginger Stubbs, Baritone, and Charity Monroe, Bass. All four are members of Vermillion Valley Show Chorus. The quartet will provide laughs as they perform their songs. Well known for their parodies, the quartet won the coveted Audience Choice award at the Regional competition in May, performing a NASCAR set.
Also appearing on the show will be DRIVE TIME, a quartet whose members hail from all parts of Illinois. Just six weeks after the group formed, they won the Illinois District Quartet Competition. The members of the group are no strangers to barbershop singing, and bring over 100 years of combined quartet experience to the stage. As their name implies, these guys spend a lot of time on the road, as their homes span a great distance within the state. The tenor, Tim Mahannah, lives in Arcola while the bass, Andy Isbell, drives from Chatham. Rich Hansen, the baritone, lives in Mt. Zion and Tim Pashon, the lead singer, hails from Sterling. The guys believe in singing well and having fun, and whether it be traditional barbershop, jazz, gospel, blues, or contemporary a cappella, they are sure to entertain.
Tickets are available from any chorus member or contact Gina Maede at ginamaede@yahoo.com or call 309-747-2679. Cost is $15.00 in advance and $20.00 at the door.
