Pontiac’s newest hotel has taken the first big step towards its completion, which is expected in 2016. A group of city officials, representatives from the Pontiac Area Chamber of Commerce, the Pontiac Hotel Developers, LLC, Hotel Development Services of Oxford, Ohio, and the hotel’s new management team, Monchino Management LLC of Herrin, IL, conducted the ground breaking ceremony on Wednesday, December 2nd at the site of the new hotel near the Interstate 55 interchange.

The new hotel, a Hampton Inn, will offer 79 rooms for guests plus meeting spaces for small groups. The project has been nearly two years in the preparatory stage and is ready to begin the 6 million dollar construction phase of the project. Construction will be fully underway in the spring of 2016.

In speaking about the new hotel, Pontiac Mayor, Robert Russell noted, “We are very excited about this new Hampton Inn coming to Pontiac. With additional hotel rooms, wedding groups, family reunions, clients of existing businesses, and those visiting Pontiac to attend one of our many community events, will particularly be pleased with this new addition to Pontiac’s list of accommodations. We also anticipate an increase in the number of tourists who spend an overnight in Pontiac.” Monchino Management representative, Mike Monchino, expressed his excitement over the new project. “We are thrilled to be building this new hotel in Pontiac. This city is proving itself to be innovative, forward-thinking, and eager to build on their already impressive list of amenities. The new hotel will be located near Exit 197 along Interstate 55. The ease of access to and from I-55 is viewed as a major plus for the new hotel.
