The Story Behind the Mural
In the back room of the Museum of the Gilding Arts is a unique opportunity to see a ghost mural. A ghost mural is a mural that was painted any number of years ago and over time has faded, leaving behind a "ghostly" appearance. This mural was discovered during building renovations when some paneling was removed from the wall, revealing what had once been the exterior brick of the building next door. This building was built in 1905 meaning the mural was painted at some point prior to 1904. As seen in the picture below, you can still see most of the word "clothing." Research indicates that this mural was an advertisement for a men's clothing store.
